Whats my first step?

Hello! First of all, I'd like to say thank you for taking the time to read and respond to this! Now for my question:

Im currently in High School, and would like to become a nurse someday. However, I'm confused regarding my first step. I'd assume, I'd go for an associates in Nursing seeing how thats the lowest degree program. However, with more research of nursing schools, it seems that most don't offer those and skip to a bachelor's. Is it possible to enter a bachelors program in nursing your first year of college? Do you guys have any suggestions, what did you do?

I went into a bachelor's program right out of high school. I went to the University of Wisconsin- the first 2 years of school were all of my general education requirements (math, english, sciences, etc...), the last 2 years were strictly nursing classes & clinicals. If you want your bachelor's degree, check out various 4-year universities, and see if you find one you like. Your high school guidance counselor can help you with this.

You can do either one. To save money it would be even possible to do all your pre-req. couses at a community college and then transfer to a 4-year school. I think that in the near future that all nurses will have BSN's. Best thing to do is talk to a number of different schools and due your own research on them. Ask were they do their clinicals, NCLEX pass rate, class size, instructor to student ratio during labs, etc. Best of Luck!
