How big was the hospital. We have lots of community hospitals with 40 beds and 1/2 of them are long term care. I could see somebody being in charge of several departments in a place like that. I worked in a factory once (ok for 9 years) and most of the bosses there were strange. They got the jobs not because of any leadership skills or brains but because they were friends or relatives of the man who started the company. One thought he was God's gift...little short fat bald guy who held nothing to a rock.

| Administrator | Re: what's the strangest kind of boss you had Where I work, whomever is the weekend Supervisor is 'the Boss' at that time. They understand that the nurses aren't really their domain. Of course, I answer to the DON or Administrator. 'Cat'

| Re: what's the strangest kind of boss you had I realize that its been awhile since a post on this thread, but I had to join in. The strangest boss I have had cannot remember anyone's name and does the performance evaluations even though she knows nothing about the employee. I find it so funny when she is straining to remember a name and she looks at our name tags...then we get to watch her expression when the name tag is flipped over or covered up. I would have more sympathy for her if this was the only strange thing she does.

| Re: what's the strangest kind of boss you had This isn't really a strange boss but my current boss said that from administration (DON) they've told her how to do evaluations now and they think she scores a little too high...NOT. How do they know what floor staff does from the other side of the building?

| Re: what's the strangest kind of boss you had My facility is working toward magnet status so, my strangest "boss" is the clipboard or comittee rep. who reports on my job satisfatrion... Once upon a time, it was how the patients viewed the service that they received. I'm not sure who or what really matters to the clipboards any more but I do have an instinct that guides me and enables me to sleep at night... Thank God for that R |
