| Re: What do you think? I have known people who make far less that had a B.S. in business. They worked in very low paying jobs. Know another person with a geology B.S. degree. He is working as a screen printer. Have a co-worker, he has a B.S. degree in Computer science, did not make crap. He went back to school to be a nurse through a diploma program. He makes a lot more than in his "BS" computer job. I think when I look at teachers wages and other grey or white collar workers, Nurses do not do too bad. Only blue collar workers make more, like a plumber. |

[ QUOTE ] NurseWannaBe said: I have heard many nurses say that the pay is great, then I have also heard many nurses say that they are not getting paid enough. Whats your opinion? If its not getting paid enough, then what do you think that nurses should be paid, per hour? Thanks [/ QUOTE ] Like anything else, it varies by region. You won't get rich off nursing, in most cases though, you'll be able to live and raise a family with what you make. I compare it to plumbing frequently. You work for your money, you stick your hands in places most people don't want to know about, and you get paid well for it. You can find a few stats, figures here: http://www.nursefriendly.com/salary/ Andrew Lopez, RN http://www.4nursing.com |

| Re: What do you think? My brother has a Masters (theater design) and he is no where near the Steven Speilberg (sp) wage bracket and really probably only half my nurse bracket. My DH has 2 degrees in computer science and in the area we live he would just make a little more then he would at McD's. |

[/ QUOTE ] I love that analogy. So I guess what we are kind of saying is that, we make decent money for our education and where we put our hands. |

| Re: What do you think? Places our hands have to go, Hmmmmmmm. Today I have a Perivulvar Abscess dressing to change. My boss told the patient that the weekend nurse was a man. She said that it was not problem. Well no one asked ME. Got a female nurse on standby with the iodoform gauze and a flashlight. |
