nursetv: potential to help educate the public..

I just submitted my application to be apart of nursetv a new series being put on by Access Nurses (www.nursetv.com)and wondered if any of my fellow nurses have done the same? I feel very positive that this show has the potential to educate the public about our career and the health industry. I know that nurses nationwide would appreciate the appreciation of our fellow citizens. I think it is our responsibility to support this series!

Hi tiger, welcome to the forum. Never heard of this NurseTV thing. Is is going to be like American Chopper with an unreasonable boss making impossible demands on his employees?

I don't think it's going to be anything like your typical reality industry show. Check out the website! I know it's not the first nurse tv show. I think there's a canadian series. But I've never seen one before. It's web based, not sure if it's a weekly airing. But what's great about the web is that you can watch it whenever you have time. No Tivo needed

    Thanks for the kind welcome.

Long as it doesn't turn into another physician-oriented, nurses portrayed as handmaiden type of show like:

ER:"Media products under your influence, particularly the NBC/Warner drama "ER," are harming the profession of 2.7 million American nurses by giving the public an inaccurate and inadequate account of what nurses really do to save and improve lives. Research suggests that "ER" strongly and negatively influences the way children view nursing. These products contribute to the nursing shortage, a public health crisis that threatens millions worldwide."

I'd like to see a show that portrays nursing accurately for a change.
