Re: Unit Base Council???

Hey Judy...Is this the type of NPC you were talking about?

Nursing Practice Council

Purpose: To delineate policy for Nurse Practice Council activities.

Policy:

1. The Nurse Practice Council shall be comprised of a Chairperson, and at least one representative from the following areas: Inpatient Directors, Ambulatory Care Director, Patient Care Services PI Coordinator, Hospital Education, Advanced Practice Nurse, and other representatives as deemed appropriate on the issue.

2. The role of the Nurse Practice Council is to address nurse practice issues.

3. The function of the Nurse Practice Council is to determine and standardize nursing practices review trends and issues/make recommendations/evaluate effectiveness of actions, and to benchmark if indicated with the State Nurse Practice Acts.

4. The council shall address issues in the following order:

(1) Improve patient care. Those issues involving patient safety will have the highest priority.

(2) Improve employee/patient satisfaction.

Reduce costs.

5. The Council will meet as necessary to address identified practice issues.

Kinda like quality improvement?

Re: Unit Base Council???

Yes this is what I am referring too. How ever here it has more of a shared governence base when it is actually working. Each representative to NPC is referred to as Their units Chair of the Unit Base Council. I had my first meeting with exchange of hands and it went much better than expected this morning. I did get forms on the UBC role and expectations.
Thanks for the reply.
