Transilluminator for Difficult IV Starts

Anyone ever use a Transilluminator for those difficult IV starts.

I have just recently started using one I found on EBay for $20 and it is a Godsend in the NICU where I work.

I used to use the otoscope but it could get hot; this one doesn't and I love it.

Anyone else have experiences with using them, am looking for hints.

Thanks

I've read several articles over the years in magazines like RN, AJN and nursing 2006 (or whatever the year was)

Re: Transilluminator for Difficult IV Starts

Found a detailed post here:

Difficult IV Starts?? Use this Red LED Transilluminator:"Paramedics/EMTs/ER Techs enhance your IV skills with this Transilluminator. The ER Techs/Paramedics in my ER use it and all swear by it. I've been an ER and NICU RN for over 25 years and I've had my share of difficult IV starts."
