is there any difference?

Between a CNA and a Patient Care tech? I have 1 more day of Clinicals (wed) and I take my CNA state exam on the 25th. the local hospital has an opening for a PCT, but no job description was given, and it requires the CNA cert. is this a similar job? or a different name for it?

PCT's are aides, but may also have phlebotomy skills (at least in my area....)

The hospital may require other duties besides phlebotomy, such as prepping patients for procedures such as EKG, or doing blood sugar checks. Any skills above and beyond what you were taught in your CNA course will be taught at the hospital as part of your orientation or as needed. Generally speaking, the PCT job at a hospital is considered to be more advanced than the long term care CNA job that most CNAs get in long term care facilities. Your local community college may have an acute care CNA course that would teach some of the advanced skills.

Re: is there any difference?

great, I'm going to turn in an early resume, Our Community College (just turned State College) is actually one of the highest rated Nurseing programs in the State, this would be a great opportunity if I can get hired.
plus it would be a great help toward advanceing me to the next level. Start LPN classes in November. crossing fingers!
