| Support for a colleague Hi, I would like to introduce myself to this forum as I have not posted to this list in the past. I currently work in the area of healthcare fraud investigation, government fraud actions and occasionally medical malpractice (both defense and plantiff), with a wonderful team of nurse consultants. I am posting to the forum today, specifically to inquire about potential resources available to one of our colleagues - Melanie McGuire. I will not go into the many details of her situation - as it would be too lengthy for a forum post. I offer only the basic of information pertaining to her situation and humbly ask if there are any nurses who would donate time, expertise and support for a fellow nurse. Melanie is a nurse, who yesterday was convicted of killing her husband, Bill McGuire. The guilty verdict stunned and horrified many people who followed the trial - as we genuinely belive in her innocence. There is a group of nurses I currently work with, on various forensic cases, who have joined me in offering assistance to Melanie and her attorney, Joe Tacopina. It isn't certain, we can offer any type of assistance to her or her attorney at this point. We also felt it was important to extend the offer to them and support Melanie. If there are any nurses who are interested in joining us - please let me know - no offer is too small. Many times we are portrayed as a professional group without cohesiveness or true unity with our colleagues. It is our goal to offer support, as a group of nurses, who choose to support and provide any assistance to our fellow nurse. I do not know Melanie personally and have never met her nor worked with her attorney. This is simply a request from a fellow nurse, to identify any and all resources available to provide support. Please contact me via my email address @ stefletcher@earthlink.net if you or anyone you know might be interested in offering assistance. If this is not an appropriate posting to the forum, please accept my apologies and also please feel free to let me know if this is an improper request. I appreciate any consideration of the request, to extend our support to Melanie. Sincerely, Stefanie Fletcher, RN |

| Re: Support for a colleague I've done some reading on this case before and after your post and looked at her website. Is there any reason other than her being an RN and having many character references why others should support her? I don't pretend to know all details of the case and certainly people have been wrongly convicted before but what is there to make us believe that she had absolutely no involvement whatsoever. Maybe I missed that on her website but I didn't see anything to refute the evidence against her. CJ |

| Super Moderator | Re: Support for a colleague Hello Stefanie, I don't see it as inappropriate (though it might be better in the General Nursing Section). The details of the case are outlined on CourtTV website: http://www.courttv.com/trials/mcguire/ I'd direct anyone interested in the case there: Melanie McGuire's personal site is here: http://www.melaniemcguire.com/ Andrew Lopez, RN http://www.4nursing.com |
