Question Stethoscopes

I'm new to nursing and want to buy a new stethoscope, but unsure about which one I should get. I was thinking about either Puretone or a Littman. Does anyone have experience with a Puretone?

Re: Stethoscopes

I have been using a Littman since I was in nursing school 11 years ago. I have a partial hearing loss in one ear and it makes it so much easier to hear. Hope this helps.

Re: Stethoscopes

Unless you've got a special need (hearing loss, etc), I'd go for something midrange and off-color. You'll be tempted to lend out your scope and it is more likely you'll get it back if it isn't one of the expensive brands and if an off-color like green, blue, silver, etc.

Personally I could afford a Littman, but am happy with a $30 Cardiocare I bought six years ago and let's me hear everything I need to.

Hope that is helpful!
