Hi everyone,
We are a medical equipment provider and are researching catheters because of multiple patient requests over the years (this is for permanent cath patients). We are focusing on the patients' top needs when it comes to these products and are asking them many questions to make sure we get this service right.
We would be remiss to ignore the nurse staff who tend to patients' cath needs before they get dispatched.
That being said, my first questions are:
- From either hospitals or clinics, are patients sent home with enough catheter supplies to last them until they find a provider? A patient told us that their urologist sent them home with two catheters and instructed to wash and reuse. This does not sound very healthy.
- After they leave the hospital or clinic, what is the patient's primary need(s) after they learn they have to cath on a daily basis?
We are just getting started, but would certainly appreciate any help from this group.
Thank you.
Jason
