Well this attitude seems to be a symptom of the problem. Forcing a male nurse to wear women's panties and hose to work to keep them in line because nursing is a female job is insulting to all nurses.
OK...so there is a "laugh factor" to this idea, but the underlying message is offensive. No wonder male nurses are leaving the profession at such a high rate.
I have seen some ugly uniforms on male nurses. Yes, I have seen t shirts with pictures and words on them that actually show through their scrubs. (tacky) I primarily work ED so most nurses I work with wear colored scrubs and not whites. This uniform issue needs to be addressed by nursing administration...it is an administrative problem. You should address this with them and share your input. I just hope you aren't sharing your sexist, angry, male nurse must wear women's panties ideas with the male nurses because your idea comes very close to sexual harassment.
Just a viewpoint to consider.

I already wrote a response in the male forum but, it was interesting to see other responses. I say strike.. and if you can't.. then you should try to get a decision making model to find the best way to attack this problem systematically.
It will allow you to try different alternatives and decide which is best.. for example support vs. no support, long vs. short, breathability, etc.
C'mon their just drawers easy options, white boxers, briefs, boxer briefs hee hee.

I tend to be skeptical of people who say "studies show" and dont specify *what* study. Ive seen this article used on several nursing websites over the years to fish for interested participants. It pretends to be an article on a professional nursing concern and all it really is is a marketing vehicle and short work of erotic lit. Im not saying Tracy put this article up here with that intention. I dont know Tracy. I AM saying that about the original site it comes from though and its author/s-Susan and Ms R.L.

Like it or not nursing does have its fetish followers regardless of the nurse's gender. This particular flavor of sexuality is femdom, forced feminization-an offshoot of cross dressing, sado-masochism/bondage and domination. If you look at the website the article is on youll see this very prominently displayed on the index pages-Red Light Magazine-specializing in female control, petticoat punishment etc. Im not saying this is a bad thing. Its just a human thing. This article is not REALLY about seriously requiring male nurses to wear female clothing on the job as a more professional, more efficient, better nursing practice. There is no serious movement working towards this-its a fetish-like cross dressing in general.

This article might be better suited for the personnals section of a nursing board. I dont think its honestly what it claims to be.
