Nursing income

I was looking on sites like salary.com saying that the average nursing income is $40,000. Is that right? Do nurses who work in particular areas make more?

Re: Nursing income

guess that's an average if you also figure in all areas of the country and new nurses and ones that have been working for 30 years. The hospital I"m at doesn't not pay more for different areas but full time evenings or nights do get $1 on top of base rate. Rotating shifts don't get it even if you just rotate once every 3 months if you don't have a straight night contract (if you have a straight night contract and get put on days some you still get it) then you get the shift and weekend difference. But an ICU nurse makes the same as med/surg as tele as L&D

Re: Nursing income

2 years ago there was a nurse I worked with that worked so much overtime that her taxes were $35,000. She would take vacation and still work agency. There is a potential to make a lot of money.

But, for the average 3 day, 12 hr nurse it is area of the country and shift.
