my personal favorite...that 3a.m. page requesting a tylenol order!!! then getting your co-workers to intermittently page for similar orders...!

The nice thing about the AMEDD [Army Medical Department] is that nurses & MD's are on the same officer rank structure. Therefore, scenarios do exist where MD's & nurses are of the same exact rank, or a nurse can even out rank an MD. Of course, the Doc-nurse-patient relationship in the military is similar to civilian side but at least on a more equal footing, if you know what I mean. This is one of the positives of being a nurse Soldier

I worked with this RN once who was totally freaked out by our morgue cart. It was a metal cart with a metal cover that had about 24 inches between the cart and the top metal cover--enough room for a very large deceased person to fit on. It was then covered with a cloth drape that almost reached the floor. She hated everything about the cart, including post mortem care and putting the pt on the cart.
Her pt died one night and we told her she had to help put the pt on the cart since it was her pt. Me and another colleague went to get the cart. I jumped on the cart and he draped the cloth cover over the top of the cart. He wheeled it into the room and when the nurse (the one always freaked out by the cart) lifted off the top, I grabbed her arm! She ran SCREAMING from the room. She was so mad at us...but later forgave us.

Anyone who doesn't deal with death on a daily basis might say we're being morbid, but if we can't lighten things up by joking around, many of us would not be able to deal....

OMG man I would get fired for the things I yelled at you guys before I calmed down.

My best friend's dad scared me on purpose like that with a HUGE live snake one time when we were fishing and as a young kid, probably 7th grade at the time, I cursed him with the force of a million sailors on crack.

Being on your end of that little prank must have been pretty awesome though. Sounds like something I'd do, though I'm not sure I could be the one to actually get in the thing.

You guys must have laughed until you had stomach cramps.

It was pretty awesome--one of our better pranks. We laughed over that one for weeks. BTW, it was kind of gross laying on the cart all covered up, knowing that dead bodies had laid there. The cart was clean, but the thought kind of grossed me out. But the joke went off great and was worth it.
