| My girlfriend wants to be a nurse Ok. firstly, this is my first post. For a short intro, my name is William and I have a girlfriend who really wants to be a nurse. She is currently studying life science @ UTSC and will be transferring to York University to study Nurse studies (I dont quite remember)?? Well n e ways.. judging from how the labour pool is going, within the next 4-6 years, will they still be actively recruiting / hiring nurses? In addition, I am currently working for the city of Toronto (in canada) and due to my career, I do not wish to relocate. Assuming my girlfriend does get hired as a public nurse (lets say for a hospital of some sort), and since she does live in toronto, would she be relocated to another city to nurse at another regional hospital (if I make any sense) ? I am asking these questions not for her, but for me. I know almost nothing about nursing or how to become one. Thanks for any insight you can provide me. *edit* I noticed I posted this in the wrong catagory, can someone please relocate this post to the appropriate catagory? thanks in advance. |

In the USA, we can work in any state as long as you have a nursing license for that state. Generally, you take an initial exam for your nursing license and receive a state license for the state in which you took the exam. Then, thereafter you can apply for licensure with other states by meeting their criteria. My wife has a TX & WA nursing license.

LOL, I like how you always cut to the chase. Of course, you are right since most of the nurses here on the UltimateNurse team are USA licensed. Maybe, some one here that holds a Canadian nursing license will chime in, but like you posted... go straight to the source.
