MRSA ,a big problem?

Ime not sure what the statistics regarding MRSA infection are in the states and Canada but here in the Uk its a particular problem and has been over a number of years .Correct me if ime wrong but i think most of your patients have single rooms as apposed to multi person wards .Over 100,000 people who went into hospital in Britain got infected last year and over 5,000 died ,see BBC - Science & Nature - Should I Worry About...?
ime not sure if this is an enditement of the standards of cleaning or maybe our ward structure or possibly both ,what are your thoughts?

Re: MRSA ,a big problem?

I work at a hospital that still has semi-private rooms (2 people to a room no wards) There is a MRSA problem but it's also out in the communities it's one of those things where we're treating who we know is carring it around but how many don't know and spread it to those who can't fight it?

Re: MRSA ,a big problem?

I believe part of the problem is the (over) use of ABT's. Then again, I have read in one of my dad's Chem. books that those bugs have the ability to mutate reeaal quick and easy. I should get ahold of the article from him and post part of it......
