Mid career nurses : Look here!

If you are one of the nurses that switch/ career changed from other professions, I want to hear your stories here and at my blog. I always admire the courage you have to change career in regardless of circumstances.

Feel free to pen down your experiences here why you join nursing, how you get started, how you survive nursing school. If you have graduated, do share with us on the forum and at my blog your experiences as a new graduate nurse.

I was currently a Singapore registered Nurse. I was formerly an civil service officer, to be exact a fire station officer. At that time, pay was good, earning sing dollars 4000, much better than nursing till now. My bond with them was about to end soon. I do enjoy the excitement of jumping onto the fire engine with my fellow firefighters to fight fires and rescue people. Unfortunately the job comes with huge amounts of paperwork as my career there progresses.

During the Asian recession period in 2003, I stumbled onto nursing when the government offered a 2 year nursing program called Accelerated diploma in nursing, with a 3 year bond with a Singapore acute hospital. This is how I got started. Tune in more to hear more about my life as a student and a staff nurse.

Regards

Wink Re: Mid career nurses : Look here!

Have you checked out the Male Nurse Forum on our site? come on over and see for yourself. http://www.ultimatenurse.com/forum/f21/ lots of us have changed our careers from one field to another, some of us were in law enforcement, the military, mechanics, etc..... I was once a bulldozer mechanic, big difference between a dozer and a human. LOL When a dozer is broken/ worn out it somtimes involves finding the biggest hammer you can to help fix it.

"Yes Mr. Somthingorother, did you ring?"
"Whats that? You say your worn out hip is hurting you."
"Let me see if I can find S O M T H I N G to help you with that."
