Question Kaiser Sunset--Los Angeles

Hey guys. I'm a cath lab traveller and have recently been offered a position in LA at Keiser. Problem is, I never interviewed with these people. My profile was submitted and they made an offer without talking to me. I then requested to speak with someone regarding the position and they responded to my company saying basically e-mail us the questions and we will answer them via another e-mail. Apparrently there is no manager at the moment and the interim manager is too busy to conduct a telephone interview. I'm just wondering if anyone has ever been to this facility. I'm getting the feeling this is not somewhere I would like to be if no one can even take the time to spend 10 minutes on the phone with me. Any opinions?

That's so typical when dealing with Kaiser as a traveller! Every time I've interviewed with Kaiser it was always through a third party that never knew anything about the unit! B.c. of this crazy interview process where they can drill me and I can't even gather some information about them, I've never worked at a Kaiser facility. This is also just hear say, but I've heard they aren't that kind to travellers in how they treat them on the floor either.

I did a clinical at Kaiser Sunset when I was in nursing school, granted that was 10 years ago but the whole facility was old and dirty and the staff did not seem very happy - funny since kaiser has some of the highest paid nurses in California. Most people I know who work for Kaiser either love it or hate it - but I would guess if you can't even get anyone to talk to you - I wouldn't want to work there.

I've never met anyone yet who had anything good to say about Kaiser, either employee or patient. They aren't number one on my list of potential employers.

Re: Kaiser Sunset--Los Angeles

My wife recently put school on hold to accept a job at Kaiser-Sunset, with the hope of getting good work experience and to take advantage of the supposed tuition reimbursement that they offer. Unfortunately, it has turned out to be a very bad decision. I guess it depends which department you end up in, and during her training, she's worked with really nice people. However, she seems to have been assigned to a department filled with very nasty attitudes, and has run up against administrators who protect them.

She has a supervisor who is not available for guidance, and coworkers who roll their eyes at her when she asks a question. She finally (after a month or so) approached her supervisor with her concerns, and her supervisor agreed and told her she was doing a great job. However, her supervisor is friends with the coworker who she had a complaint about, and LIED to the nursing administrator basically blaming my wife for having a bad attitude and making mistakes that she didn't. What's worse is the nursing administrator has an even worse attitude, and will not hear any of my wife's concerns (how would you feel working for a supervisor stabbed you in the back) and believes that she is the one lying.

My wife is the sweetest person (and I'm not just saying that because she's my wife) and it really has stressed us out to the point where she is ready to quit rather than work for a company filled with nastiness and managers who foster that environment. Also, she's learned since starting work that they have discontinued the tuition reimbursement program, which was a big reason why she was initially so excited to work for Kaiser.

Oh, and by the way, it's not just her as many of the new employees that began around the same time as her often leave work crying.
