Just curious

I took the first year of a 2 year degree in nursing. I was told that I could sit for the LPN exam if I finished the first year. I ended up switching majors and will have my Bachelors of Science in Business/Finance Emphasis in a couple of months. Does anyone know if I can use this Bachelors degree and my year of nursing to sit for the LPN or RN exam or do I need to go back through nursing school for the 2 years? Thanks in advance!

Re: Just curious

you can't take RN boards until you graduate from a RN program. LPN would depend on the state and when you did that nursing but I wouldn't think you could just sit for the LPN boards either without doing a LPN program

Re: Just curious

Cass. Some 2 year nursing programs allow you to sit for the LPN boards after the first year or continue on and finish the second year and sit for the RN boards. I would suggest the OP check with the school they attended or the state BON.

Those are the people who can help her.

Re: Just curious

I know that in Oklahoma you can do this after your first year of RN school.

Re: Just curious

Thanks all for your help. I am waiting for a return call from the BON. I want to go on into nursing management and will probably have to have my RN to do that even though my degree would be in business management. I'm sure it will not cover nursing management. Again, thanks for your time!
