Question Just curious

I am not looking to reenter the nursing field, just curious as to how difficult it would be to reenter the hospital work force. I have been out of Hospital nursing for 25yrs. I worked in a hospital for approx. 6yrs. I am now in my 50's. Just wondering with all the new technology, and rules how difficult would it be to reenter the work force. I would think that only having 6yrs. hospital experience, it would take more than just a refresher course to get me up to speed functioning in a hospital setting. I also believe my age would be looked at as a deterrent in getting hired. Would be interested in hearing your opinions. Thanks

Re: Just curious

I have been out for over 7 years...First contact board, they will send you a resolution package with all info, paperwork, applications, etc. you need in it. I am now excpecting to receive my continued education options. After receiving that package I am to contact board and speak to "attorney" and she will inform me as to which option to pursue. I lost my license due to positive urine drug screen (amphetamines) I didn;t follow through with the harsh orders of the board and surrendered my license. I am now in process of getting my license reinstated.

First I have to wait one year before submitting my application for reinstatement. During the next year I must prove with documentation 1 year of sobriety. Urine drug screens and 3 NA/AA meeting per week .... I then will make appnt with board (one year from now)

It is overwhelming, but I believe I will enjoy educated myself further. I am excited about it. I haven't even thought about getting my license back until about two weeks ago.

P.S. I am 46. GO FOR IT!!!!

Re: Just curious

I would check into a refresher course at the local Community college. Perhaps on the job training, too? I would ask around.....
