I too have a similar background as MagRed. I was a Crew Chief (aircraft mechanic) before entering the nursing field. I also went the long way...starting out as a CNA, then LPN, now RN. Wouldn't change it for anything right now. This allows me so much freedom in the path I want. There are so many avenues in nursing that if you get to the point of burnout, there is something else out there to try in the field....

I got my first degree in Social Work, realized it wasn't for me and then went back for nursing. I love nursing and I feel it is what I was meant to do, but if I were to pick something else I think I'd be a high school English teacher. Actually all through school that's what I was going to be, and then when I got to college I changed my mind. I'd probably just change it back again. :39: Hmmmm.....maybe someday I even will consider it, but not right now.

I would have went to school to be a doctor. I originally wanted to do that, but didn't want all the schooling and by the time I get through my MSN program it will have taken me almost the same amount of time as it would have to become a doctor. I am kicking myself now.

I would definitely be a grade school teacher. I had planned on going to school for teaching since I was little, but things change when you grow up!
