Inquiring Future Freshman

I was wondering about the differences between taking a LPN course to be an RN for a year versus taking an RN course for 2 years. Pros, Cons, and any other general information. Basically, whats the catch?

Hi Sarah and welcome to the nursing forums!
I think you've received some confusing information about that one year LPN course. You don't become an RN after taking an LPN course, you become an LPN.
There's a terrific discussion I suggest you go look at about what LPN's do versus RN's in this forum:

The "2 year" Associate Degree in Nursing program usually takes about 3 years since most colleges require students to have all of their basics before they can be accepted into the nursing program. An associate degree nurse who has done that can give you a better picture about that than I can though.
Are you in a super hurry to get to work, or could you afford to spend 4 years in college and get a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing? Take a peek at that LPN's vs RN's discussion and let us know what you think after that & we can all go from there ok?
