I need your help

I have been reading some of the posting on this forum for the past few weeks and one of the postings that have drawn my attention have been the ones addressing nursing shortage, working conditions, low pay, high turnover rates and plainly the dissatisfaction state of nurses in the profession. I have been a nurse for 17 years, and these issues have always been the same. I believe that the answers to some of our problems are in our hands, which is taking control or responsibility for our individual careers. I am starting a career coaching service to help nurses everywhere take control of their destiny by controlling their work conditions, their pay and create their own satisfaction in nursing. I would love to hear your thoughts about this business idea.

I think this is a good idea. Sometimes I think nurses just need to know how to pull together and that means you have to have someone motivated to keep everyone on track. Complaining at work and home and forums isn't always going to cut it. Hospitals with committees are great, but that doesn't mean the hospital is going to follow through with what is proposed.

Sounds like a good idea! Change does come from within, most of all. Keep us posted, eh?

I believe that if we are going to enjoy true job satisfaction, we have to create for ourselves and as a coach I want to help nurses find career satisfaction in nursing. before can find job satisfaction, we have know what is it that we want and something it is not easy to figure that out on our own. as a career coach I will help guide nurses to greener pasture that they are looking for.

I have had a professional coach for many years as I have progressed through my career. It has been and excellent resource to keep me oriented to my career path and my personal success.

I wish you all the best in setting up your coaching business - I know that it will be a huge success.

ES21... i would work in a hospital you worked in anyday! im so tired of people deciding how it is that i learn, giving which direction i should go "advice" but hidden in the subterfuge only amounts to what personnel are needed where. but especially the learning and training. i think a big thing to make nurses, especially new nurses successful, is for hospitals to realize that not all people learn the same way. i know this is a bit off track but i see it certainly applying in the same realm. man i could go on and on and probably will soon.

Re: I need your help

I know most professional organizations offer a mentoring program (pairing a junior and senior members together). Do professional nursing organizations offer the same thing?
