I\'m Bummed HELP I was working with a very sick pt the other day and some brace company salemen came in to adjust a brace for the pt. When they left, they left my pt barely covered, her trach collar was unfasteded, restraints undone, head of bed down with tube feeding going,a new skin tear, and waved at me as they left. I was stunned to find the condition they left my pt in. I was so angry I know my B/P must have shot up. I had the charge nurse contact their company. I told her I never wanted to go home, I felt I needed to just stay there forever and guard my pt from idiots. I have calmed down now. But how do the rest of you handle that kind of anger in the work place???

Re: I\'m Bummed HELP Let me put this wine cooler down and put out my cigarette and we'll talk some more about it. LOL Truely; I don't smoke anymore and rarely drink but plan lots of marguarita nights. I do tend to be fairly good at ranting and raving though..

Re: I\'m Bummed HELP Judy--you are one person. It would have been nice if you could have stayed with your patient during the changes, but coming back to see the condition she was in, you did the right thing. Call the money people and give them hell. I also would have smacked him across the head and kicked him onto the floor----thats why I'm the dancing man (retired) lol.

Re: I\'m Bummed HELP Thanks Rayne for the reply, I have calmed down, the Dr thought she through a PE the next day they got her up with the brace on and the next day she died. I had to separate myself emotionally for a few days. I fought so hard for her two days in a row and she died anyway. Sometimes I just take mental vacations from it all and play stupid shoot the balloon games numbing my brain for a day or two, then I am OK and up and running again. Nice to hear from you. Are you retired from Nursing? What did you do when you were nursing and what are you doing now? Fill me in some more. K?
