I am going thru with it... My husband and I have finally agreed that now is a good time for me to go for my RN, so I have scheduled my Placement Test and I am now filling out Grant Papers, etc. I am so excited!!!!!!!! We have a 3 year old daughter and I am going to take my pre-requisit classes to get them out of the way and then I will be able to concentrate on my nursing classes when she goes to kindergarten in 2 years. The waiting list here for LPN's is long but RN's isn't as bad, I just can't go before then. I just wanted to say hi to everyone and I am sure I will have plenty of questions!!! Trish

Re: I am going thru with it... Hi Trish, Good for you! Don't know your age, but...I've been a nurse for 27 years and I'm in a masters/NP program. I'm 46 and sometimes wonder what the heck I'm still doing in school! But it's never to late to learn more and grow from that knowledge. There are a lot of us here who have been around for a while so feel free to ask if we can help..that's what we're here for!! Bonnie

Re: I am going thru with it... It is never too late to better yourself. I got all my prereq's out of the way and started nursing school at age 37. Luckily, my college offerred a small section for students who could only go nights and weekends. This enabled me to keep my full time job all the way through nursing school. I also was busy raising 2 kids and my husband worked nights. Getting my degree and career was just that important to me. I graduated with honors and didn't owe a penny in loans. (I wasn't eligible for grants as both my husband and I worked full time). You can do it! If you want it bad enough, you will succeed! Best wishes, Gayla

Re: I am going thru with it... Congratulations on your move. I started all my prereqs when my kids were little and started the nursing classes (and took BSN classes) when they were 7, 5, and 4 and finished 2 years later. The only bad thing was the money was a bit tight the 6 months till I could get hired as a NA (then student nurse extern after 6 more months) but it can be done even with little kids.
