Seriously though, I just try to maintain a positive perception of everything that's going on around me. I make sure I say hello to everyone, help people in my rare downtime, be friendly to the docs (it can be tough), and keep a smile on my face. It really works well and I go home feeling better at the end of the shift. A positive attitude is also infectious. The patients feel better and other staff members enjoy being around me.

I still need that midafternoon cup of coffee though.
LOL Cammer, I like your caffeine order! Seriously, you hit the nail on the head regards to positive attitude, as well as a smile can be contagious. Plus, on my days off I go to the gym [weight room & aerobics of some type] & practice aikijutsu.

As a LTC nurse there is rarely a time when any of us are not busy. There is no down time, barely enough time to grab a lunch. There is always something to do, someone to help, and it becomes very overwhelming. I wish I had the time to stroll around the building, just to gather my thoughts.

Hey Cass,

I like the Prozac lick- that's really funny. Can you super-size that? When things get a little tense around the unit and people are on edge, I talk about putting Ativan in the drinking water.

Give me chocolate, and no-one gets hurt!

BTW....how about aerosol spraying of prozac, and valium salt lick? I DO like the idea of spiking the resident water supply at Full Moons....just thinking about the possibilities is making me feel better.
