| Admin aka Shortbus | so you're looking for a job as a community palliative care nurse in hematology? Man, say that five times! Are you a registered nurse, lpn? What kind of experience do you have on the job? Have you worked in other nursing specialties? A google search on the topic brings up these results: community palliative care nurse in hematology There are plenty of palliative care jobs out there for nurses. If you want to specialize or strictly do something with blood disorders I doubt that would really limit you. I would say that you're looking at oncology though. Cancer patients, leukemia, doing palliative care as a home health nurse or with hospice? I could never do that job. Too sad. I have a TON of respect for hospice nurses though. They provide an excellent service, and a much needed one. |

| Super Moderator | Re: Help needed You can find some excellent information here: Hospice, Palliative Care Nurses, Nurses for a Healthier Tomorrow/STTI:"The hospice movement has evolved in the United States over the past 25 years. The focus of hospice care is on comprehensive physical, psychosocial, emotional, and spiritual care to terminally ill persons and their families. Hospice providers promote quality of life by protecting patients from burdensome interventions and providing care at home, whenever possibly, instead of the hospital. Hospice nurses provide care primarily under the guidelines of the Medicare Benefit Act of 1983, a federal program that allows patients to die in their homes with their families and friends at their side."
