Question Help getting enrolled in a nursing school!

****o,

It is my dream to become a RN. But everytime I try something is blocking my pathway. I paid my registration fee for Middlesex Count College to find out that I need my prereq. before I can start. I graduated from High School 12 years ago. I don't know where to begin to start taking these courses. After I do have the credits where do I go from there. I really don't want to do the LPN/LVN first.

It seems as if everyone has to same love for nursing as I do now. I am really frustrated and I feel as if I don't do this now it will never happen for me. Can someone out there please help! What is the first step?

BTW- has anyone went to the Nurse Recruitment Center in a hospital and had them pay for your prereq. courses and agreed after you graduate you will work for them to pay them back. HELP!!!

Re: Help getting enrolled in a nursing school!

Hi Jamira,

Most colleges have pre-requisites you have to take before entering a nursing program, it isn't that unusual. What I would do is sit down and talk with someone in the nursing office at your college.

Find out exactly what courses you'll need to take and how soon you can start applying to the nursing program. In some places waiting lists can be as long as two-three years, others may not have one.

Ask questions early so you'll know what to expect. Push comes to shove, going for an LPN/LVN first may be your best option to get started.

Hope that helps.
