Graduate Program....im scared!!!

ok. so i am a new grad from Australia, and i am starting my new job next monday.
i am so scared.
my first rotation is in respitory ward, and this ward- all the senior nurses are huge *****es.
they hate young nurses. they hate new nurses. and they hate grads. they want that ward all to themselves for some reason.
im scared because i dont have much experience in respiratory, and im hoping they dont expect too much me, cuz i really dont know.
and im scared my preceptor will be a ***** and i wont be able to approach them for help and then ill do something wrong.
Gah, this is stressful!!!!!!!!

Re: Graduate Program....im scared!!!

That sounds very stressful. Just remember to stand your ground, stand up for yourself, acknowledge your weaknesses, and if they treat you badly, just ask them to treat you with the respect any coworker deserves. You're not going to know everything right away, so don't be afraid to ask questions. If they don't help you out, just say "How can you expect me to become as good of a nurse as you if you won't teach me how?" That'll get them. Good luck!!
