Thread: What sets your recruiter or company apart?

What sets your recruiter or company apart?

I spent a great deal of time picking out a company to work with. So far my choice seems to be a good one. My recruiter has gone out of his way to make sure my needs are met. I was wondering what criteria different people use in selecting a company. For me it is a recruiter I can work with.

I chose travel companies based on recommendations from other travellers, and research on the internet. I had a specific area I wanted to go to, and was told "no problem." Not one of my 4 companies was able to get me a contract where I wanted to go-- but I must have chosen poorly, as there are travellers at the hospitals here from other agencies (ones I didn;t apply to because of bad peer reviews).

I finally gave up on "testing the waters" as a traveller in my new home, and went staff at one of the many hospitals in the area. I based my decision primarily on staffing, 2nd on pay. I would have taken lower pay at a closer hospital, but their staffing ratios were too high for me. So I drive further, make more money, and have better staffing.

I have been a recruiter for years, but am new to "nurse recruiting". It is good to know/hear/read that the recruiter makes all the difference. What makes a "bad" recruiter?

I think that the biggest "bad" thing a recruiter can do is tell the nurse there is a job when in fact there isn't. And not getting back to a person.. If I call you it's cuz I wanna talk to you...
