Re: Flu Vaccine, what\'s your opinion?

I think it is a shame when John Kerry blames Bush for the flu shot shortage. He has put the fear in many elderly and the media is playing it up. Saw an article on CBS that talked about seniors driving 100 miles to Canada to get a flu shot.
Just another example of liberal 20/20 hind sight.

Another sad thing is, the Liberals were putting down **** Chaney for getting a flu shot. COME ON!!! I do not want the V.P. to become ill and unable to function for not getting a flu shot. My god the man has heart problems. He needs the shot!

I have faith that by the end of November this shortage will be resolved.

Re: Flu Vaccine, what\'s your opinion?

Last week I treated two people who came into the ER after waiting in line with 1,000 other senior citizens and felt weak and fell to the ground. The medics said that the crowd of anxious senior citizens waiting in line was a disaster waiting to happen.

That's what the media has done for people and what they always do - they stir the proverbial pot. By the same token, there should be better arrangements made for seniors.

Having been sick two years in a row after receiving the flu shot (including the illness recurring over several months last year) I decided not to get it this year. In our ER we are bombarded by people every year who panic when they get the flu...but as a public health nurse as well as ER nurse, you have to realize that the virus mutates into all different types of fun shapes and we never know what we'll be facing. Public panic always gets us into trouble, and the media contributes to public panic.
