| Administrator | Facility Management: Help or Hinderance? Ok....have a question for all of you: How would you rate your management? Are they a help? Or are they a hinderance? And why do you rate them the way you do? This should be a lively discussion. 'Cat'

| Re: Facility Management: Help or Hinderance? If you are talking about unit managers I really couldn't ask for a better one for my work style. She leaves you alone as long as you do your job. She's a hard worker and goes above and beyond as far as most managers go she'll asign herself in staffing, take call and work on holidays to give staff off, she's in charge of several committees and active in Relay for life, march of dimes and AHA. Sometimes it is rough when she's in staffing because she's still the boss and gets calls and has to handle regular unit problems but all in all she's great (I even nominated her a couple of years ago for the best boss through a local TV station during bosses week and she won) If you are talking about DON I'd say they are OK. The one we have now came from a different hospital (where I also used to work) she wants to change things and do things as they were at the other hospital (now out of business) there are some things that worked better there but some things don't need changed and you know how people are about change. She is very personable and does appear on the units. Our hospital administrator is also very approachable...I've called him directly before when I had a beef...took it right to the top everyone that the problem affected got an "sorry" letter and a memo went out "sorry" He's usually in the gym when I go in. We have a monthly breakfast with him (on your birthday month)and there is a lot of interaction between all staff and upper management. Right now we are building and having "state of the union" meetings as I call them...I think they are somewhat of a waste but they are asking for in put from everyone we'll see what happens.
