| Re: ER Nurse Faces Charges of Pocketing, Taking Pain Drug When I worked in our ER I often thought of how easy it would be for an addicted nurse to get drugs there. It takes 2 nurses to sign off on a waste in the PYXIS, but it was so busy that often one would sign for the other and then walk away leaving the nurse to actually dump the med herself. So many times I'd be standing at the sink with a syringe of morphine and nobody else around. That's probably one of the reasons drug abuse is so prevalent in nurses. It is really important to always respect the drugs for what they do to help people and remember how they can also really hurt a person.
