Figuring out the game of Life

Hello everyone, the name's Liz. I am a nurse on our Cardiac ICU here in the great city of Greenville, NC - all sarcasim aside. I have been a nurse for a year. I am very interested in traveling and so right now my husband and I are looking into that. He is going to come along for the ride. I have been talking with AccessNurses. So far I am happy with my recruiter, but I want to know what else to look for in a company besides the obvious salary, benefits. My husband and I are newly weds and we want to get out there and experience life to the fullest. So any suggestions for travel nursing, advice, :whatever: I am a sponge, so bring it on!!!

Welcome! Other than salary, benefits, & location, make sure your recruiter is someone you trust- Before I started traveling, I spoke with several recruiters who acted like used car salesmen- always trying to "sell" me on their company instead of asking what was important to me. Make sure your recruiter is someone who you trust & feel comfortable with. Check out the "perks" the company provides- how much travel reimbursement will you get? Will they reimburse for 100% of licenses? Do they offer free CEU's? Any type of bonuses? How are the copays & deductibles with insurance? I travel with my husband as well, and one company said they would only provide a full-size bed- my current company knows that I need to have a LEAST a queen-size bed! Also, how much will they charge to add your husband to your insurance? Some companies want to charge $400+/mo. just to add your spouse to ins!!! My current company only charges $60/wk ($240/mo) for my husband to have insurance (mine is free). These things all add up and can make or break your traveling experience. If you have any other specific questions- let us know!
