| Canada? I'm entertaining the idea of maybe going to Canada to do the nurse thing there. I'm currently licensed in Michigan. Are there any websites that cover the details of transferring, or becoming licensed in Canada that anyone is aware of? Also, I'm not doing this through a travel agency, just thinking of moving. What are some things I should be asking my potential employer, things I should be watching out for, etc? I'm still new to this nursing thing so that just adds to my apprehension. If this will be more appropriate on the travel board please let me know. Like I said, I'm not going through an agency so I didn't post there. Thanks in advance, Kevin |

| Administrator | Re: Canada? You'll need to contact the nursing association in the province in which you wish to be licensed, and request an out-of-country application package. Once you've gathered all the necessary paperwork and completed your application, return it to the provincial organization. Upon receipt of your application, they'll create a file for you. Depending on your circumstances, you may be asked to submit academic transcripts and various other records. This information can be sent directly from the various sources to the provincial association to be added to your file. Check the Canadian Nurses Forum for the addresses, etc. 'Cat' |

| Re: Canada? Do you know if it's like dealing with our government? In other words, if I start the process today, will it be finished in a year or two, or are they more timely with their systems? Thanks Cat. |
