| Can anyone help with a Nursing Paper? Hello, I am brand new to this sight but I thought I would try my luck. I am writing a paper on the differences in tasks and functions of LPN's vs RN's. Could any of you give me any insight on that? |

| Re: Can anyone help with a Nursing Paper? Sure, I think you will find that even 10 years ago the line that was drawn between RN's and LPN's was much clearer. RN's could take doctor's orders off, verbally and on papaer, they could start and administer IV medication. LPN's in the 70's were trained in tech schools during a nursing shortage, so most came out to work with nurses, not totally on their own. Things of course have changed for the better. With special training, LPN's can now do IV meds as far as I know. I still think verbal orders have to be checked by an RN. The line has been broken in many ways, so that now RN's and LPN's are equals in the field of patient care. |
