Business Type looking to get into Nursing....

I'm in my mid-30s, Father of 3, working in an accounting/business position. I have a finance degree, working on my masters, buying years into the current retirement fund, but considering ditching all of that as I genuinely do not like the field (wish I knew this years ago).

So, to become a nurse and possibly later a PA, can someone give me a once over on what I'm in for? Obviously I can not quit my job, so I will have to take night classes. Is there a way that many in my situation go, ie a shorter route? Online classes? From what I know now (yes, very little) It is about a 2 year program followed by clinicals.

And, while you're here, what is the route for a PA? And, what is a reasonable timeframe to obtain that? (again, starting from Zero)

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Most PA schools require at least a BS. depending on how old your courses are you can get your ADN/BSN from most colleges.
Once you at least get the ADN then I would go for the BSN on line. but check with the school where you plan on going for the PA first. some don't require any specific degree before you start the program. Most PA programs are master level

The transition might be difficult, but you will find it was all worth it, when you start to enjoy your job. Good Luck!

My brother is a PA and graduated from UN at Omaha, I would start with your local college or community college, ask them about the requirements for each. If you are really interested in being a PA, I wouldn't go to Nursing school. The scences would transfer, but nothing else would.
