i am going to add to this beware list
Arcadia in Cincinnati is strictly dialysis...
1. you pay for your own drug test ($38)
2. you pay for your own criminal background check ($4)
3. you pay for your own physical ($15-200)
4. orientation is voluntary...no pay AT ALL (-$360)
5. there is no direct deposit for paychecks UNLESS you happen to bank at the same bank the secretary does...then she'll make a deposit for you if you give her pre-filled out deposit slips...(i SERIOUSLY question this practice)
6. the ONE and ONLY day of orientation i had, i was told i had to fax to the agency a copy of the pt's runsheets?!?!? (i SERIOUSLY question this also...HIPAA?!?!?) (liability $3,000,000)
7. shifts and cancellations are "spread out" across the board... if a facility cancels "nurse A", and "nurse A" has already had a cancellation that week, then they will cancel "nurse B" at another facility and send "nurse A" to the other facility. if they are contracted for "only" 20 shifts in a given week and they may have 7 full time nurses, the 20 shifts are divided as equally as possible i.e. 6 nurses will get 3 shifts each and the 7th nurse will get 2 shifts...?!?!? oh, and i forgot to mention the "teacher's pet" factor... ($36/hr for every shift worked, -$36/hr for every cancellation)
8. every other agency in town will let you fax in your time slips for pay, and some (not all) may require that you later send the original... not this agency... if you dont send the whole original time slip, you dont get paid, period. and in this day and age of mailbox raiding and identity theft, they will kindly mail you your check...after you've mailed them you're time slip WITH YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER ON IT
9. and i have it on VERY good information from a current employee that if you work for another specific agency in town, you WILL NOT be given shifts at this agency... and i do work for that other agency...(which pays $41-48/hr!!!)
