Any Foreign nurses working on their NCLEX...

Hi there. I am planning to take my NCLEX soon and my biggest concerns are the pharmacology and health care system questions as it is so different from where I trained...
I don't know what to expect from the NCLEX, I am trying to do 50-100 nclex questions a day as a study method but since I have nothing to measure against, it feels like I am running in the dark. I mean the software are very good and gives me the correct answers with the explanation instantly, but I am wondering if that is enough?
It seems that a lot of students fail on their NCLEX exams and I am unsure of what to expect.
I guess my question is how hard is it really. Did you study very hard and still failed...
Regards
Marianna

I am assuming you are English speaking as your post seems to indicate that. Boy I'd hate to take such a test if I wasn't fluent in the language. I can't imagine going to another country and not speaking the language.

I would keep doing what you are doing..Does the program you are using let you "take" the test.. That's what I did in my last semester of college.. I took in several times in a row as often as I could.

Good luck. You will do well cuz ya want to.

For my first exam I was studying not so hard and I failed. For my second exam I was studying really hard and I failed. But I still quetly sure that Kaplan courses are the best to get prepared for the NCLEX. Just keep practicing tests...

Re: Any Foreign nurses working on their NCLEX...

I am from Canada and took the NCLEX exam shortly after taking the CNATS. I had purchased an NCLEX study guide so I could prepare. I would do the practice tests in the NCLEX book and... I would fail almost every test...I was freaking out. Finally I just said forget it.. I'm not studying anymore.

Well when I went and took the NCLEX exam, it was WAY EASIER then the study guide questions. But to be completely honest, it was harder than the Canadian exam. (not sure where you are coming from).

As for pharmacology questions, yes there were a lot but the questions were on very common drugs and it would give both a generic and brand name. That made it easier.

If you normally do well at multiple choice questions in nursing school, then you should do well on this exam. I passed the first time I wrote this exam and I am suprised to hear how many people fail.

Good luck to you

Re: Any Foreign nurses working on their NCLEX...

I'm from Canada as well! I recently passed the Nclex after just 75 questions. I purchased the Kaplan study guide w/CD from Ebay and used my Mosby text book.

If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask...I have a blog on the nclex as well (check my signature below). I'm always adding new content and will be adding study tips as well. Leave me a comment and I'll get back to you ASAP.
