hi i posted this in the general discussion, but i think this is a more appropriate place to write this.
im a senior in highschool and am very interested in becoming a nurse, specifically an RN or NP someday. i live in california and i am deciding between two cal states: long beach and los angeles. did any of you guys go there? i know they both have great nursing programs, but i just need a few details.
i have pretty much gave up on UCs because of cost and the fact that only USC and UCLA seem to provide good nursing progams(which i will not get into). im also considering community colleges as well, but am pretty fixed on those two cal states. right now i am even questioning whether i should even take my SAT IIs, since i might not apply to any UCs.
also how would a nurse start in opening up a clinic? i have heard of nurse entreprenuership. but would a stable job as an NP be better?
i plan to commute to school(but i still want to go to a good nursing school) so these colleges are near by, with long beach being a little farther. so where did all of you guys go to school and how was your first year?
i am filipino, and it seems there are a lot of young filipinos getting into this field. are there really? i wouldnt know, just inbetween family friends is how it seems.
if i plan to get my masters, would i first have to get a bachelor's degree? and go back to school? sorry im still in highschool and am clueless about most of these things, but i have a tendency to plan ahead.
thanks.
