    Mom as traveling nurse?

I haven't graduated yet from my BSN program, but I was thinking about travel nursing down the road. I was wondering how long the contracts usually are and how far do you usually travel for a job? It would be a great experience, but I don't want to miss out on my family. Are there ways you can get assignments close to home? I was also hoping to hear experiences from travel nurses who have families to see how it works out for them.

A friend of mine got a job traveling to a hospital 5 min. from her home. If she would have been hired through the hospital personnel office, she would have made around 20 buck a hour less. You never know what you can find unless you look. This is a good site to shop around on.
