Help! Infos needed for Arizona hospitals

Hi all! I'm thinking of going to Arizona for the winter. Anyone out there have informations on these hospitals? Mayo Clinic and St. Lukes in Phoenix and UMC, El Dorado and University Physicians Healthcare in Tucson. I'm interested in the tele/stepdown and ER. For anyone whose got information, pls share. Thanks in advance!

Try the banner hospitals and their travel company, they are great and fair and the pay is good as well as a 3000 completion bonus at the end of each assignment, You get you completion bonus on your next check. They are great! Speaking from experience, PyJones

I'm currently with Trinity Healthcare who has a local office there in Phoenix. I wouldn't recommend St. Luke's it's right downtown off of Van Buren, where the "ladies of the evening" and other likes are. I was at John C. Lincoln - North Mountain and loved it there.

I worked the ER at John C. Lincoln North Mountain as a traveler; was there for nine months and was treated very, very well.

I also spent a couple of weeks at Mayo. DO NOT GO THERE. They have a "Mayo way" of doing things. You're not allowed to do things like draw your own ABGs, set up your own PCAs, even draw your own type & screen. EVERY move you make is proscribed by a Mayo policy. It's a bit of a Stepford world. Beware in particular of Judi Pinkston in nursing admin. She is not to be trusted.

UMC ER in Tucson is ridiculously overstaffed. The designed trauma nurses take ALL the critical patients. Travelers are relegated to shifts of nothing but migraines and back pain. There are so many floats around that you can't keep track of what was done to your patient or not. By the time you see the orders, someone else has already done them. They also tried to say I didn't work my last shift to get out of paying me. I had to pull charts from med records with my signature and date on them to prove I was there that shift.

I was also in the ER and treated very well. The only problem I had was with one specific female ER physician, don't take a verbal order from her AT ALL. She will double cross you every chance that she can get.

I am currently finishing up a 12 week assignment in Prescott AZ. Actually the hospital was the new campus in Prescott Valley. It is beautiful here. Varied ecosystems within a short drive (less than 10 miles!). Town is historical and has a quaint downtown area. The hospital is small and the staff was extremely welcoming. I would recommend this assignment to anyone.
