Okay, I guess to be a legit post in here I have to complain about something so...
...how 'bout them doctors? Not only is the handwriting bad but you can't even understand half of them anymore. (run on sentence alert!) Seems like when they come from India or Pakistan or where ever they don't even bother to learn the language well enough so that when you call to ask them about what the hell this order is you can't even understand what the hell they are saying?
And if anyone disagrees with me on this I'll... I'll say you are wrong! So there!

I totally agree with you. I had an indian physician the other day that tried to give me verbal orders on the phone and I could understand about 2 out of the 10 orders he gave me. I kindly said to him " I am sorry but you are going to have to repeat slower or come in and write the orders yourself." HE got so mad and hung up on me. He later came in and wrote the orders. LOL>>>>
I wish I could disagree...but even if you can understand them in person...you sure can't understand them on the phone!!
Amen, I am a new Rn and I have already encountered a doc who thinks he can do no wrong, well I have news for him. He recently was taking call and had the gall to tell a family of a pt (who was obviously) crashing, that she would just be fine. After he left the room he stated," I am not her primary doc and she is a DNR anyways, Im not worried about it. That just ran all over me. I don't care if she is a DNR or if he wasnt her primary doc. He should have atleast paid alittle attention to her.
Sounds like he interpreted DNR as Don't Provide Any Care! If she was obviously crashing it sure seems callous and ethically wrong to assure the family "she'll be fine". I take it empathy isn't that guy's strong suit eh? sheesh...
Bonnie don't you agree that it's asinine that hospitals have a "top pay" cap for their professional staff? That either forces experienced nurses to leave for greener pastures or it's done on purpose so they can move well paid staff out the door in order to take in less experienced nurses they can pay cheaper. Corporate healthcare mentality... it's not what's good for patient care that matters most- it's that bottom line babe!
yeah, and the bottom line sucks....
When the inexperienced pool of nurses far out weighs the experienced pool, and the staffing ratios don't compliment patient acuity, I think we all know what happens to patient outcomes.... AND the bottom line! The 'suits' just don't get it, do they!
