Hey guys n gals!
My name is Ian. I am a 22 year old LPN student. I got my AA in nursing and just graduated my EMT program. Ive been sending out apps for Nursing programs since 03' and JUST finally got into one! o_O Talk about crazy. I had enough time to get my complete AA and EMT cert. (3.4GPA)
Anyways, a little about myself. Ive always wanted to be a nurse, specifically an RN. Im a sci fi geek and I enjoy studying and going to school. I have been with my partner for 4 years, (he is a high school teacher now). I have a twin brother who is a police officer and married to an amazing women. In fact, my entire family are all police officers excluding myself of course.
Im a very caring person and a hard worker, so this is the profession for meI spent alot of time in the hospital getting my EMT, specifically the ER. From this ive learned that I enjoy what the trauma nurses do, so that is my goal. I have a long ways to go though it seems. I have a year of LPN (i clept first semester so im starting as a 2nd term) and then I must find an LPN --> RN Bridge program. THEN I have to get my BSN! Its enough to make my head spin a bit but it has to be done. I hear the hard part is getting into that first Nursing program. Things like LPN -> RN are less competetive and same to Rn -> BSN. I know im taking the long way around to get a simple degree but I do feel its better to just get all this done then apply constantly and keep getting rejected because I dont have a 4.0.
Im a hard worker and an excellent student. My GPA is only 3.4 though cause as much as I would like I didnt have the time for a long long time to just study all day. My mom had cancer and its come back and kemo and back again and more kemo.. That being said I had to take care of my little adopted special needs brothers. Its kinda put a damper on my school work at times. Now though she is better, and the timing couldnt be more perfect! I start my LPN program finally after all these years of waiting on the 9th. Needless to say im very excited. I have already started studying my pharmacology book and made flash cards for 112 of the drugs so far. Ok so I am an uber dork, so sue me? I want to be on the top of my game hehe ^^
Anyways, i rambled on enough, its nice to meet you all! <3
