INFORMATION ABOUT THE POSITION:

L&D/INPATIENT
This 12-hour shift works in our 2 bed L&D/10 bed Inpatient unit. Housing and 3 meals per day provided by the facility. Responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation. Is responsible for directing and coordinating nursing care for patients based on nursing practice standards. Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to provide quality cost-effective and efficient care to achieve the best possible patient outcome. Applies age specific considerations and cultural sensitivity when rendering patient care. Supports Samuel Simmonds Memorial Hospital's mission statement "To deliver superior quality health care service in cooperation with others to meet the diverse healthcare needs of the individuals, families and communities of the North Slope region." Samuel Simmonds Memorial Hospital is a critical access designation by JCAHO and all emergenices are stabilized and medevaced. Auxiliary services include Medical Imaging, Lab and Pharmacy. This position is a total nursing care position-nurses are responsible for phlebotomy and respiratory care (we do not have ventilators). Proficient IV Skills, computer literacy, current ACLS, three years of current L&D as well as all age Med/Surg experience and ability to be a team player are essential functions to this position.
