Performance Based Development System(PBDS)Testing

Does anyone know about the PBDS and what it is all about? I am new to traveling and have to take the test when I get to Florida. Any suggestions for taking the test?

PBDS is a computer program which assess the individuals knowledge base. It presents the test taker with different scenarios and based on your answers it helps your educator know what areas you might need help in. Most hospitals in the DFW area are using PBDS to help them assess how long of an orientation a new employee might need. If you have experience in your area then the test is fairly easy. It does require critical thinking skills.

When you take your PBDS, be sure to get a card from the educator, then when you go to another facility in a one year frame, they can call and get your results rather than you having to test again. I just found that out with this assignment.

Hi all. I have been traveling since '01 and am now being asked to take the PBDS for the first time. I was reading some threads and understand there is a study guide. Could someone let me know how to obtain one? Thanks...Nancy Also a newbie here so pls forgive mistakes

i just took the med/surg/tele pbds in june and passed to work agency but made myself crazy worrying about it..i wanted to take the ICU but didnt want to fail it then not get to work at this hosp at all. going tomor to take the ER version which i havent heard anyone talk about.. but from what the employees have told me are Triage senerios.. so wish me luck..if a pass good if i fail doesnt mean im a bad nurse just a VERY BAD test taker!!

Hi Nicu,
Sorry to say, but,if you don't pass they will cancel you.. So, study and ask your company to let you speak to other nurses who have taken it.
This is not standard test.
