Meeting for their annual congress last week, delegates voted by 96 percent for a motion that opposed government plans to raise the pension age from 60 to 65. The emergency motion stated, "Congress urges RCN council to impress upon the government that they will not rule out industrial action over pensions if all other measures fail." http://www.socialistworker.co.uk/art...rticle_id=6403 ************************************************** **** Sounds like the debate we're having over social security in this country right now. If Social Security is to remain solvent, they either have to: 1. Raise the age that you start collecting benefits. 2. Decrease the benefits paid out. 3. Raise taxes to pay for the benefits they provide. Or you could pull a United Airlines (UAL) stunt and default on pensions completely. . . . . Andrew Lopez, RN http://www.nursinga2z.com |
