Hello! I'm Kristy and I am currently attending a community college in Texas with the hope of entering into a BSN program in the fall. I just happened to come across this site and some of the threads caught my attention. I am very excited about the future and I hope that I will show confidence in the care that I give to any patient. Hope everyone has a great weekend!:houra:

Hi, I found your site as I was reading Nurses stories. I work in CCU and have been a nurse for 28 years. I'm also a BSN student. I seem to have upset a few co-workers by returning to school and I'm not sure way. Need some help.
I am 56 and haven't been in school since 1973. I have been working in the medical field for the past 20 yrs. As an Office Manager for Opthmology 14 yrs. Then part time Medical Receptionist while taking care of parents who died in 2003. I have been toying with the idea of going back to school for nursing.. Am I crazy or what? I am still on file at my local comunity college where I applied to the nursing program in 73.
Am I too old????? Help
No Problem!! I was really nervous.. I hope all went well. They will be notifying everyone mid april so I don't have that long to wait! :houra:

:waving: Welcome Daryle and lscrn! Glad to have you with us. As for the returning to school bit, I am sure that some co-workers believe you'll 'change' somehow.
Daryle, NO one is 'too old' or crazy for returning to school. I know the local CC still has MY number (AND my husband's, too!).... I say go for it! We'll be here to support ya. Good luck!

Raven, good luck in getting in the BSN program. I was just going through the same nervousness. In my Chem 2 class most of the students are going for nursing. I have been lucky enough to have met 4 other students who have been accepted to the same program I have been accepted to. My program is one for second degree students, so these are people who have worked in other fields and decided to go for nursing. I can see that they are all very excited, and being part of this excitement is definately encouraging in helping me decide...I just hope that we all remain so enthusiatic when the tough gets going. Good luck!!!
:hurray: Most of the people that I am in class with are going for nursing but the majority seem to be going to an alternate program rather than the BSN. When I was in my Chem class a few semesters ago there was more people that were going for their BSN. I should know by mid april if I was accepted or not. There are always other places to go though. It is nice to be around people who have the excitement and drive. Good luck to you as well.:luck:
