Re: Nursing strike in Appalachia continues

That's absolutely horrible and scarey. It's also rediculous. Raise your hand if you want to work for that hospital EVER. NOT. It wioll be a sad situation for the community when the hospital folds due to this action. EVERYONE should walk away from this hospital, including the patients.

Re: Nursing strike in Appalachia continues

I agree with MRS.ERNURSE that is horrible, I graduate in 8 days and it's sad that people are treating RN's like that. Also it's scary that the people left to take care of the patients are probably not as qualified as the RN's picketing. I am sure that since staff is stretched thin aids and LPN' are probably doing duties that is really not in their scope of practice, which means patient's lives are in danger. I agree with cougarnurse, it seems like the patients are the ones that are suffering the most. Most people go into the nursing field to help people and it seems like nowadays most hospitals are out to make money and not making patient care and safety number one.

Re: Nursing strike in Appalachia continues

I still believe that striking helps no-one, especially the patient/client. Oh, I understand the patient load, etc.....I can tell ya a bit on that. However, who is taking care of the patient, if you're walking the picket line? Just food for thought.
