I'm not an expert, but it sounds like your case could get complicated. The first thing you should do is talk to an attorney who can advise you on exactly what to do. Don't try to guess about things and end up paying worse consequences. Good luck.
I just got a DUI (5 days ago)... I have not notified BON yet, and was wondering when I should (no conviction yet). Also I had been in a treatment program for alcohol before I even started nursing school in TX, and was honest @ that to the BON. Stipulations were placed on my license there - AA&NA meetings, drug alcohol testing, no narcs --> even though I was sober at the time of application. I completed all the requirements + then moved to CA, I was told that my license was clear... Is that true / can the CA BON find out about stipulations on TX license? Now I actually relapsed + got DUI - what do you think BON will do -- take away my license? What are the likely disciplinary actions that the CA BON will take?
Desperate to get some feedback,
CH

Thanks for the input. Do you have any ideas on where I can find an atourney who knows @ BON in depth?
Still trying,

Although I am not an expert either....I do know that our local AA chapter has a healthcare professionals group and I have always found it helpful when seeking an atty or legal advice to go there and ask who other nurses and MD's have used as atty's ....even calling the AA helpline and asking them if they could recommend an atty....or give you a name...if they can't help they will know someone who can....
Yes it does sound like things may be get complicated...but remember things are never as bad as we make them out to be..the important thing is that you are going to have the chance to survive your relapse...
Things will get better...maybe not right away...but they will---just stay sober....
I will be thinking about you...take care
