Hi! I am currently an RN student with great interest in travel nursing after a few years experience. I have not contacted any companies because I do not want to be harrassed for next few years, which is what I imagine would happen.

Is there any reason why a nurse interested in travel nursing couldn't establish their own "agency" and negotiate contracts for themself? Eliminating the middle man seems like a good way to do it, if you don't mind doing all the research yourself and finding a place to live, etc.. If a recruiter can negotiate, why can't we represent ourselves? I have benefits through my husband, and I can make retirement investments on my own, so the benefits the agencies provide do not appeal to me either.

So what are your thoughts?
